Cabinet Painting Process

Our professional painters will follow this process for every cabinet painting project to ensure they do an excellent job!

STEP 1

Cabinet Prep

We take all of the hardware and cabinet doors/drawers off before we paint. If you are changing hardware, we must have it in hand the day we start to label things because if you need holes filled or drilled, this prep work must take place before we begin painting. You don’t have to take anything out of the kitchen cabinets since we don’t paint the inside.

STEP 2

Sanding

After taking all hardware and door/drawers off, we will sand all bases and doors/drawers to break the clear coat. This step does create a small amount of dust, but it allows the primer to soak into the wood and attach well which yields the best results.

STEP 3

Prime Coat

We take all of the doors/drawers ends home to paint. This allows us to give time between coats. Your bases are painted each morning, then during the afternoons, the team works on your doors/drawers offsite. The underside of the bases is not painted, as it’s not visible and is not made with a finished product or cover well.

STEP 4

Finish Coats

After the prime coat, our team puts on multiple coats of the finish product (either Emerald or Dynasty). This process has to allow for dry time between coats. Bases are painted in the mornings on site, and door/drawers are painted in the afternoons offsite.

STEP 5

Re-Assembly

On the final day, the doors/drawers are brought back and all hardware is re-installed. Touch-ups are also performed. We leave extra paint for you, too, in case there are areas that chip during normal wear. The product has a two-week full cure time, so we ask you to be gentle initially with use and not wipe the doors for a couple weeks after completion. You’re going to LOVE your “new” cabinets!
